Web Page Design Module 12: Collecting Data with Forms

The Challenge Meeting the Challenge Background Information Background Building Activities Knowing You Have Succeeded

Form Objects
Forms are a way to add interactivity and collect information on a web page.  Dreamweaver lets you create forms by adding form objects.  You can add a form to a web page by selecting Form on the Insert panel or Form on the Insert menu.

In creating a form you choose form objects that include the following:

  • form fields which allow users to insert information such as a name,
  • radio buttons that appear as small empty circles and provide options for users,
  • check boxes that appear as small squares and allow users to select multiple choices
  • lists and menus that display choices in a pop-up set of choices
  • buttons which are small rectangular objects which allow a user to submit a form or erase all entries from a form.

The form below shows a sample of each of these types of objects.

To learn more about how to create forms, continue with the Background Building Activities.

Note: Controlling forms will not be included in this course. To obtain form controls designed for creating specific types of forms visit the Adobe Marketplace & Exchange (adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/).
